Summary: Popularized by the rise of so-called “shabby chic” decorating styles, the Bohemian style of interior design emphasizes the integration of flea market or garage sale purchases with more traditionally acquired pieces of furniture or decorations to form a unique and memorable look. The fabrics and surfaces of the Bohemian style items are purposefully worn, frayed or otherwise distressed, lending the feeling of old country home or artistic French loft to any room. By incorporating older and more unique pieces of furniture or art into your larger design scheme, you can utilize bargain finds or inherited pieces and create a room that looks both carefully arranged but comfortable and welcoming.
