Summary: Skateboarding has been an increasingly popular hobby and sport since the 1950's when the popularization of surfing in California created a new craze dubbed “sidewalk surfing”. The first skateboard consisted only of a wooden plank attached to roller skate trucks and wheels, but today the sport has evolved as fast as the boards themselves, which now have much improved trucks, wheels, ball bearings, and boards. Even though the focus has shifted from vertical ramp skating from the 1980's to street skating, skateboarding remains a popular hobby, sport and mode of transportation for young people around the world.

In this free video series, our expert Justin Van Zandt will show you how to do a manual, nose manual, kickflip, 360 flip, 50-50, backside 180 kickflip, frontside 180, frontside pop shove-it, half-cab, half-cab kickflip, heelflip, kickflip body-varial, nollie, nollie flip, and a frontside nose grind. About the Expert

Expert: Brendan Donovan is a 20-year old snowboarder from Boston, MA. Recently relocated to western Massachusetts, he now resides in Amherst, MA where he studies History at UMASS Amherst. He has been avidly snowboarding since the winter of 2000, but is no stranger to the slopes. Donovan was brought up to ski from a very young age, but as time went on he became a product of the counter culture so prevalent in today's society. He was also a skateboard instructor and ramp builder for an indoor YMCA skate park where he was able to polish up his skills and gain confidence being on the board. He hopes these videos will help you learn, progress, and love snowboarding as much as he does.
