Summary: Tangrams are Chinese games that use several odd shaped pieces that must be assembles to form a square or other shapes. They are brainteasers that force you to use the cognitive portion of your mind as well as your creative portion. They are very old games that date back to 1813. It is said that a servant was carrying a piece of square tile, dropped it and in a panic tried desperately to assemble it again correctly but could not. In the process he had created many other shapes and figures though and thus the tangram was born. This is a great game to play alone to test your whits and creativity. How many figures can you make out of a few odd shaped pieces of plastic?

Tangrams are kind of like the ancient Chinese version of the modern card game solitaire. It tests your mind, you can play it alone and there is more than one way to win. You can test you wits with this simple puzzle by playing several unique tangram games such as double squares, tangoes, block puzzles and the big square. You can also create your own tangram shapes and name your own games if you're creative enough. Take a crack at it and see what figures you can create and how far you can push your imagination.
