Summary: The automobile—a machine that means so much to so many—is a complex system built on the designs and ideas of men and women who are long gone from the world. And while we’ve enjoyed traveling the back roads of childhood, the streets of adolescence, and the highways of adulthood, the car has remained a reliable means of transportation, as well as a vehicle that embodies the hopes and dreams of reaching exciting new destinations, or returning home.

Cars, as with everything else in this world, deteriorate with use or non-use over time. In this free video clip series, our expert, Doug Jenkins, will not only show you how to maintain your car, but also how to completely restore and renew its paint job. You'll learn how to scuff off old, dry paint, apply new paint and even fix blemishes in the paint job as your car becomes like new before your eyes. He will show you a step-by-step procedure on how to give your ride the custom paint job it deserves.

About the Expert

Doug, of “Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Rods”, not only servers the entire nation, but even customers outside the U.S have found the shop's services indispensable. Doug got his start in fixing, customizing, racing, selling, and restoring when very young. His grandpa put two 6x8 garden sheds in the backyard of the apartment when Doug was in 4th grade and he went to work fixing bicycles for anyone who would pay. By sixth grade Doug had bought non-running motorcycles and fixed them. He bought his first junker by 14, selling it for a profit after fixing it; 20 more by the time he graduated from high school, and lots more to pay his and his wife’s way through college. After commercial fishing, working the oilfields, farming, wood working, logging, and running a sawmill, his lovely wife was right again, and talked him into going into the customer car business in earnest. Doug and Kerry worked through the fall, after the logging season, to build a shop attached to their home.
