It is generally a very traditional family event. Sometimes called Turkey Day, Thanksgiving dinner almost always features turkey, but also stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie.

About the Expert

Expert: Matt Cail is a part-time party and social event planner. In this role he has offered his services at weddings, birthday parties, office events, and various holiday and observance events throughout the year. He has used his artistic talents to design invitations, place cards, and other decorations, and has organized impromptu catering events with fine selections of beverages and food. He has also worked with individuals of all budgets and preferences, from lavish to inexpensive, and from Spartan to gaudy. In addition, Matt has hosted annual New Year's, Superbowl, Oscar, summer barbecue, Halloween, Christmas, and movie parties for the past decade with guest lists ranging from 10 to 100. He continues to refine these and other social events to produce the maximum amount of enjoyment possible.
