Summary: Floods can be extremely dangerous, destroying homes, even entire neighborhoods of a town. Unless you are prepared for one, they can also be a tremendous danger to your own life. People try to cross roads covered with water without realizing the power of a raging flood. The rising waters can also catch you off guard at home, forcing you to leave your home unprepared for what could be a long wait until you are rescued. If you live an area prone to flooding, please watch this free and informative video series for your own safety. James A. Donnelly has lived through floods since he was a child in Pennsylvania, each one giving him more insight into effective flood survival. He gives you tips for preparing a family evacuation plan and as well as kit of essential items (such as food, radio and flashlight) you will need to take with you. He also discusses damage prevention measures such as sandbags and tarps. Remember to turn off your electricity and gas before leaving the house! You will also learn about flood insurance and find out advice for cleaning up once you do return home after the water level goes down.
