Summary: A Parent Teacher Associations, or PTA, is a voluntary organization that gathers both parents and teachers of school students together to discuss important school and community issues. PTA meetings usually involve discussion of fundraising, school and student welfare, and school activities. One major purpose of the PTA is to boost parent involvement in their child's school, and it is estimated that over 90% of U.S. Schools have some form of parent teacher group. Other missions of the PTA involve speaking on behalf of children before government organizations, and assisting parents in developing skills to raise and protect their children.
