Summary: Qigong is literally translated as energy cultivation and involves the coordinating of breathing patterns and physical postures of the body as instructed in an aspect of Chinese medicine. Qigong is often taught alongside Chinese martial arts to maintain a healthy body. The origin of this form of medicinal exercise is traced back as far as 18th century B.C. In ancient history, practitioners believed that this practice could enhance the physical, metabolic and mental functions of the body. Today, medical universities give degrees in Qigong.

About the Expert

Dr. Guan-Yuan Jin, M.D, L..Ac is an internationally renowned Qigong Master, Medical Acupuncturist, and Doctor. Dr. Jin is the Honorary Professor of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, PRC. After graduating from Zhejiang Medical University (currently known as Zhejiang University's School of Medicine) in Physiology in 1982, he stayed at the same school and became Assistant Associate and eventually Professor of Physiology until 1989. During the late 1960s', Dr. Jin studied under the tutelage of Dr. Mian-Zhai Jiao, one of four most famous Acupuncturists and Qigong Masters in modern China. After Dr. Jin came to U.S., he obtained a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Radiology at Medical College of Wisconsin in 1991 and later became a “Grandfather” Acupuncturist and one of the first seventeen Diplomats of Chinese Herbology (NCCAOM) in USA. Currently, Dr. Jin serves on the Wisconsin State Acupuncture Advisory Committee and is a frequent lecturer and keynote speaker at international and national medical conferences. href="http://www.Aceacupuncture.com">www.Aceacupuncture.com
