She demonstrates the steps, moves, turns and combinations of the dance, as well as arm and skirt movements which enhance the mesmerizing visual qualities of the dance. Additionally, she talks about the origins of Mexican folk dances, shows you how to wear the traditional Mexican dance costumes, and offers tips and advice on where to learn more about this beautiful dance.
Expert: Aleli Montano is from Mexico City and won the National Cheerleading Championship in 1998 and the Modern Dance State Choreographers Contest in 1999 in Mexico. She has also performed at Spring Works at the Boston Conservatory in 2003 and 2004. She was part of The Boston Conservatory Dance Ensemble from 2003 to 2006. She was a Recreational Director and Emerging Choreographer in the Summer Dance ’05 Session 1 and Session 2 at The Boston Conservatory. She also taught Acro-Cheer at the Jamaica Plain School of Dance from 2003-2006, for children ages 4-15 years old. She graduated from the Boston Conservatory in 2006 with a B.F.A in Dance with a Modern Dance Emphasis. In 2006 she joined Donna Sternberg and Dancers in Santa Monica, California as a Company member.
