Summary: What would high school be without cheerleaders? Naturally, some of us might like to paint a beautiful picture of a school removed from the typical cheerleader stereotypes. While this thought may be welcomed by some, the overall sport experience would not be the same without cheerleaders. Without a rallying force behind pep rallies and games, some of us would lack the motivation to inspire team spirit. And, if anyone second guesses the talent and ability that it takes to be a cheerleader, they couldn't be more wrong. Cheerleaders make a profession out of crowd pleasing, which is not an easy job. Cheer leading has become a sport that has worked itself into cultures all over the world. The origins of cheerleading date back to America in 1898. Thanks to a clever student at the University of Minnesota, a random combination of rah rahs and sku-u-mars caught wave in a varsity football game. Since then, thousands of girls and boys have come together in the love of their teams. Now, there are tons of cheerleading camps, merchandise, and competitions.

In this free video series, let Nicole Gardner show you some beginning cheerleading moves. As captain of her cheerleading team, she knows how to teach new cheerleaders. Nicole discusses safety issues for cheerleading. She also offers a routine of basic cheerleading stretches. Learn how to do basic arm motions and angles in the sport, and learn basic kicks and jumps. Nicole also coaches you through various offense, defense, and “g-o” chants. She even gives advice for about cheerleader uniforms and tryouts. So, what are you waiting for? Expert: Nicole Gardner is on the high school cheerleading squad where she lives in Burbank, California. Training other new cheerleaders in exercises and cheers is her
passion. She is the captain of her highschool cheerleading squad. She co-demonstrates cheers with her school mate, Caitlyn Cwik.
