About the Expert

Gary Schutt was born and raised in Monticello, NY, and was taught how to play drums by his father. He later learned to play guitar. Gary attended Berklee College of Music. He graduated in 1990 with a BA in songwriting and taught there for two summers. In 1992 Gary relocated to L.A. to join Jeff Scott Soto's (Yngwie Malmsteen, Talisman, now Journey) new band SLAM. The band didn't make it but a friendship entailed. Over the years, Gary fine tuned his guitar playing skills and various styles in numerous Top 40 and Rock cover bands. In 2002 Gary started touring the world with Soto's solo band, this time as bass guitarist. Four tours and 12 countries later, Gary left Soto's band to concentrate on his solo material. Gary has written over 150 songs, has 5 CDs, and 1 DVD currently available. He also has produced music videos and DVDs for Jeff Scott Soto, Talisman, Ken Tamplin, Adrift and Daize Shayne through his video production company, Shut Up Productions.
