He excelled in auto shop and after high school he knew his passion for mechanics would lead him toward the technical institute where he studied for two years. This background provided the foundation for his automotive career at Chevrolet where he plied his trade for more than twelve years. Dean felt the academic call again and began to teach auto mechanics at the pacific coast technical institute. He became the head automotive instructor for two years before he sought to retire to a more artistic lifestyle while still pursuing his love for automobiles.
