Expert: I was introduced to water skiing through my parents who skied every weekend, year round throughout my childhood. My 7th birthday was my introduction to the water and I haven’t looked back since. At the age of thirteen I competed in a talent spotting competition where I was awarded training in my school summer holidays by the British water federation. This was my introduction to ski school, I was sent to the Princes Water Ski Club in Ashford, Middlesex, England. At thirteen years of age this was a great experience of traveling, living away from home and meeting new people.
I first represented Great Britain, as part of the British Water Ski Team the following year in a European Junior event held in Sicily, Italy called The Three Nations. This is one of my fondest memories and experiences. I have represented Great Britain, internationally every year since 1984 at Dauphin, Junior, Under 21 and Open levels. I first met Nicola Huntridge and her family at Lound Ski Club, I was 15 years old and she was only ten and already showing great promise on the water. I won my first Open international championship in Luxembourg in 1988 and I have won many open titles since.
Andy Mapple and I became training partners and we would train together for the next ten years. 1997 would be my first World Cup win. In 2001 I reached one of my long term, goals by becoming the 2001 European Champion. 2003 became a milestone in my competitive career, when I won the semi final and final of the Moomba Masters Championship in Melbourne, Australia. Nicola Huntridge & I opened our Water Ski School in Orlando, Florida. In 2004 Nicola, a former Pro Skier & Wakeboarder and I were married. In 2004 we also saw a new IWSF World Cup Tour. The Tour took us to new venues around the world, including Russia, China, the UK and Qatar. I won the final World Cup stop in Doha, Qatar. With a strong start to the Tour and with consistent skiing throughout the year, I took the Silver Medal position in the Overall World
