Summary: Wakeboarding can be described as a modified version of waterskiing, with a little bit of surfing and snowboarding technique mixed in. Often riding at slower speeds and with shorter rope lengths, a wakeboarder is towed behind a boat on a wedge-shaped, snub-nosed board. As the board hits the wake created by the speed boat, cutting through the water, the wakeboarder is launched into the air. The basic idea is to perform the most outrageous, fun, cool-looking tricks possible…while staying above the water and on the board. Wakeboarding is definitely an extreme sport.

In this free instructional video series, learn how to wakeboard for the very first time. Our expert will demonstrate the basic wakeboarding moves and stances, including how to stand up, and stay up, in the water, and how to change direction. Tips also include wakeboarding safety guidelines, wakeboard care and maintenance, and warmup stretch routines before you hit the water.
