Summary: Are you extreme? I said are you extreme? Well then, creeking might just be the water sport for you.

What is creeking? It is an extreme form of kayaking, and focuses specifically on going down whitewater rapids (usually class IV to class VI), including ledges, slides, and waterfalls. Creeking uses skills that allow the kayak to maneuver with safety and ease over or around just about any river rocks or other obstacles. Whether it’s the controlling the boat’s approach to a drop, positioning your body in a specific way, or utilizing different types of adaptive paddle strokes, creeking technique requires a great deal of training and experience; creeking is not recommended for greenhorns, newbs, or neophytes.

In this free video guide to whitewater kayaking, learn some of the most important stroking and boat maneuvering techniques for creeking the rapids. Our expert river instructor will show you the proper way to use the kayak paddle, how to do boofing strokes, how to position your body relative to the boat, especially when making a drop, how to land the kayak, how to roll, and more.

So if you’re an avid kayaker looking to “take it to the next level,” creeking might just be the sport for you. Watch these videos and decide for yourself!
