Summary: A form sweeps lightly across the stage, gracefully arching arms and neck, balancing posture with poise effortlessly—this is the image that ballet dancers the world over spend a lifetime creating. They train their bodies into submission, investing years in dance schools, perfecting their jeté, their pas de chat, their relevé. When everything comes together, the ballet is a spectacle of wonder, telling us the timeless stories of history and the human heart through measured expressions of fluid and beautiful motion.

Ballet has changed in a few ways over the course of its history, with one school of thought giving way to another; yet, usually the fundamental ideas remain unchanged. In this free dance instruction video series, build on that sturdy tradition by learning some advanced steps and moves. Our expert will train you in the subtle gestures and fantastic movements that allow for a rich and complete expression of form. Learn the developpe step, the pique, the fondue, battement, the pirouette, the ronde de jambe, and other important ballet dance steps. You’re sure to increase your appreciation and enjoyment of dance, as well as help the audience to feel the intensity of passion, sorrow, joy or ecstasy that ballet was created to help express.
