The application consists of several parts that need to be completed before it is submitted for approval. All individuals living in the home or anyone who will be employed as a care provider in your home is required to take a tuberculin test and submit proof of negative results with the application. A criminal history background check will be conducted of everyone as well.
All providers are required to be currently certified in CPR and First Aid. The American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society provide training for certification for a fee, while other organizations such as the Junior League my provide CPR classes free of charge. The certification for CPR is good for one year while the first aid certification is good for two or three years, depending on where you get you're training. The American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society provide training for both CPR and first aid. The Junior League provides CPR training only. It does include infant CPR and first aid. At the orientation session, a list will be provided for you to choose from.
