Can Feng Shui promote love in the house?

Feng Shui creates balance and harmony and it impacts relationships. The people in the home will be more harmonious.

Whether you are seeking romance or simply wish to have a happier family, feng shui can help.

Linda Binns is the founder and executive director of the Feng Shui Success Institute and owner of Harmony Inside. When asked if feng shui can promote love in the house Linda answers, "Oh, definitely. Yes, Feng Shui can definitely promote love in the house. When you are creating balance and harmony, which is what we are doing with Feng Shui, it impacts everybody who lives there. Everybody will benefit from that and everybody will feel better about their relationships. Generally, amongst the people who live in the house things will be more harmonious. When you work on the energy in your home and balance that, then it definitely affects relationships in a positive way."

While you need to consider your whole house, the Love & Relationships and Family areas will have the biggest impact. If you are seeking romance or want to improve an existing relationship you may also want to think about revamping your entire bedroom. For singles, clutter, "baggage" from old relationships and negative imagery are often preventing new relationships from developing. Singles and couples can benefit from getting rid of old beds that were shared with past partners and harbor old, negative energy, not to mention old memories.

Red is the color most often associated with love in feng shui. White and pink are also good colors for love. Some people actually prefer pink because it is less overpowering. Mirrors work well to get energy moving, and round mirrors are the best for love energy. Candles and fresh flowers also promote love in the house. Dead plants and dried flowers have to go. Dried flowers may hold sentimental value, but they harbor dead energy.

Elephants are a symbol of love in feng shui, and are said to promote fidelity in couples. To promote romantic love display a pair of elephants. To improve family relationships choose a combination that represents your family such as a mother and baby elephant together. The most important thing to consider, when choosing symbolic objects and imagery, is what represents love to you personally.

To promote family love and harmony, try adding plants to your home. Remember that balance is the aim of feng shui, and balance means equal representation for each family member. Everyone who lives in the house needs their own space that represents them personally. Often, when someone in the household is lacking representation they will feel neglected and unhappy. When this happens, power struggles and resentment can build in the house. The wrong kind of representation can also create friction. Family photos and pictures of children should be displayed in the Family area or in the Creativity & Children area, but not in the master bedroom or in the Love & Relationships area of the house. The Prosperity & Abundance area is a seat of power in the house. Problems can come about when bedrooms fall in this area.

Feng shui promotes love in the house by creating balance and harmony and generally uplifting the spirit.
