Macramé itself is just cord. And the cord comes in over a hundred colors and several different sizes. If I wanted to use macramé to make a purse I might need purse handles, although technically you could make the handles from macramé also, but you don't need glue or anything. A lot of people use beads to decorate their macramé projects. They just string the macramé right through the beads, you don't need glue or tape. We have beads, brass rings, purse handles, chair frames, and plant stands.

You might want to use a lighter to burn the ends of your cords, which fuses them together.

You might also want to use macramé hooks, macramé boards, and tie pins to make your projects easier.

Q: How do you clean macramé?

All you need is soap and water. Some items you can even throw in the washing machine on gentle cycle depending on what it was. I wouldn't recommend putting intricate jewelry in the washing machine.

With items like jewelry, you can just soak it in warm soapy water and clean it with a sponge, something gentle. I wouldn't recommend using a brush because it might cause the cord to fray.
