Hiking and packing up your backpack

Learn the essentials of packing your backpack for a hiking trip.

It depends on how far you are going to go. If you are going for a day hike, you want to take plenty of water and use a hydration pack. Hydration packs attach to your back, and a tube extends to your mouth. This enables you to drink water, whenever you need it. It is so much better than stopping and opening up a bottle of water. Hikers tend to hydrate themselves a lot more by using hydration packs. It's really an efficient way to carry the water.

For an overnight hike, you have to take sleeping gear and a tent. You will also need food. I recommend not taking anything that you have to cook, because it will take up more space in your backpack. The tent and sleeping bag you take should be lightweight and easy for you to carry around.
