When is Matchbox car models worth money?

Matchobx cars and trucks will be worth money after its popularity increases. Also if the toy is still in its original package, in great condition and was sold in a store, then this adds value to the toy.

All of the Matchbox cars' craftsmanship is quality, though the models are not what they were back in the 50s. The company has been sold a few times; Lesney sold the company to a Chinese company called "Universal", then it was sold to Tyco, and then Tyco was bought by Mattel in the mid 1990s. Mattel's Hot Wheels product, produced in the late 1960's, forced the Lesney company to convert their "Matchbox" cars to "Superfast" wheels at the same time.

Due to the packaging done today, it may make the pieces less valuable to collectors in the future.
