Actually one of our biggest festivals is coming up in about a week and a half and that is our BayFest festival. It starts in October, this year it's the seventh through the ninth. It's a music festival in downtown Mobile. This year we've got Dwight Yoakum, Wide Spread Panic, and B.B. King, plus lots of others. It's a great three days to come here. The temperature is perfect for being outside. Everybody in downtown opens up their businesses and it's just a wonderful three days to spend outside watching some great music.
We also have our Bird Fest coming up soon and that's at the end of October. The Bird Fest is for avid birders. We have large migratory bird colonies that come through this area as they migrate for the winter and so this Fest actually celebrates that and it's got events all over the Eastern shore. There are events down by the beach and here in Mobile and on Dolphin Island. You learn about different birds, there is some bird watching, and educational seminars as well.
We have the Greek Fest, which happens in November and it's a celebration of Greek culture and heritage. One of our Greek churches sponsors three days of food and music.
We also have a couple of arts festival coming up and then the Mobile International Festival during the holidays. Those are very large as well. The International Festival is an absolutely great way to learn about different cultures. It's a cultural event that has been going on for 22 years. Basically you get to visit the continents of the world right here in Mobile. They have representatives from just about every country you can imagine with representative music, arts and crafts, and food. It's a really neat festival, especially for kids - it's really oriented towards the school children.
Then we have the Magic Christmas and Lights which happens in November and December. It's just amazing. They use more than three million strands of lights to create a Christmas Village Wonderland.
Then we top it all off with Mardi Gras. There is always something going on in Mobile.
