Photography in Eufaula, Alabama

Eufaula, Alabama attracts photographers from around the country.

Eufaula draws photographers because it is such a historic town. A lot of people do come for nature based photography and we have a local photographer that is an incredible nature photographer. There are lots of different people that come to photograph the lake, the wildlife and just the terrain. We have our pilgrimage every April. That is Alabama's oldest tour of homes and we have over 700 structures that are listed on the national register of historic places. So, it's kind of odd because we will have visitors who come and realize we have a lake and then we have visitors come and not realize that we have the historic tourism. We have basically two forms of tourism; Eco Tourism and Heritage Tourism. Thousands and thousands of people come here every year just to see the old homes. There are two homes that are open year around and one is owned by the Alabama historical commission and the other is owned by the Eufaula Heritage Association. They are open year round for people to go and tour. They have museums inside and they are restored to the period. They have got some pretty incredible things around. It's five bucks to tour around. A lot of them have things that you can photograph on the outside. There are some areas we cannot photograph on the inside, one of that is like in Fendall Hall; that one is one that is owned by state.
