Tips for low cost marketing

Low cost marketing tips include sending greeting cards, having a unique title on your business cards, writing for local publications, and having a legible logo.

There are five different ways to have low cost marketing. First, make yourself stand out, for example, by sending out greeting cards for holidays to remind people that your product is available at that season. Second, create a memorable title for yourself that's unique. I have actually seen business cards for a family owned furniture company that listed the names of their children, because they named the store after them. Third, as a business owner, you can write educational articles about your industry for local publications, so that you become an "expert." Publications are dying for this. You may have a local newspaper that is mostly community-based and run by advertisements. Write an article every quarter. You'll be surprised to see how people respond to you. They'll clip out the article and say, "This guy wrote an article. He must be good." The fourth tip is to never underestimate the market value of your name. I think we all know Oprah and Martha Stuart. They have taken their small talent and name and turned them into something very large. It's all about brand recognition or name recognition. Last, make sure the name of your company is legible. Some logos can be so fancy that you can't read them. The lettering is off or the colors don't merge well or whatever.
