What is Reiki?

A reiki master uses reiki symbols and psychic energy for reiki healing.

Reiki healing has been used since the late 1800s to promote spiritual and energy health. Expert Hope Cramer shares her knowledge of this form of spiritual healing that was re-discovered in Japan by a man named Mikao Usui. The universal energies surrounding us every day can be harnessed and spiritually guided to improve the aura of the patient.

Reiki can be used to heal animals, people, and plants and can even be applied to relationships or situations. Reiki healing energy can be used in present time and even sent back in time to a situation when it first occurred. Energies can be passed through touch, or simply by holding your hands above or around another person's body. Reiki can be done in person and over extreme distances.

Reiki is used to heal different chakras or auras in a person's spiritual realm.

"The practitioner uses the Reiki symbols and intention to bring in the energies through the crown chakra that is right above the head in the middle, and it goes through your hands and to the client or the recipient." (who said this?)

There are seven different chakras or energy centers in the physical body and each practitioner uses these energies differently to heal different patients with different needs.

"Reiki works on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels and can be used over any distance to help heal the cause of any situational illness," Cramer says. She is a certified sixth-generation Usui Reiki Master-Teacher, and was trained by a traditional Reiki Master. Training to be a Reiki Master-Teacher can only be done through an attunement process administered by a Reiki Master.

People who want to become Reiki practitioners have to take classes that are instructed by a Master. In each class, the Master passes the attunement on to the student for a particular level that they are achieving. With each level, the energies get stronger. Cramer informs us that "the attunement process is a life changing event and can open the person's psychic and intuitive abilities as well as the channeling ability." Anyone and everyone is capable of Reiki healing because everyone has the channels that the energy flows through. Some channels just need to be cleaned out and "attuned" so the energy can flow between you (the practitioner) and the client.

You can search the Internet to find a Reiki healer or teacher in your area.

"Anybody can become a healer if they want to. All they have to do is have an open mind, an open heart and good intentions," Cramer says.

The practitioner is not healing the patient, but the energy that is flowing through the practitioner is. Understandably, this energy has to be good energy in order to heal a person's aura.

Dr. Mikao Usui, the original Reiki healer, once said "each of us has the potential of being given a gift by the divine, which results in the body and soul becoming unified ... a great many people will experience the blessings of the divine ... Through it, the human being will first be made healthy, and then peace of mind and joy in life will be increased."
