What is a dental crown?

A dental crown is a dental restoration device made of metal and porcelain and fits over the tooth like a pillow case.

A dental crown is a restoration that sits over the top of the tooth just like a pillow case covers a pillow. The crown fits over the tooth to protect it. It can be used for a tooth with a crack in it or

one that is worn away from grinding. If you bite on something hard, you could break the tooth in half and need an implant. A crown would cover up the tooth to protect it. It's made of metal underneath with porcelain on the outside. It's basically made with the same material other appliances are made of. You can't tell the difference between it and your other teeth.
