A good speaker system does not necessarily have to be of large size. You can get high quality, nice sounding speakers that are a little smaller. The things you need to look for are frequency response and sensitivity ratings.
It will be heard in the specs of the speakers and you cannot look at it as a package. You have to look at it as individual speakers, what they are capable of reproducing, sound quality-wise. Everything all the way down to the cabinets that the speakers are in, is going to be about the sound quality.
Your speaker package needs to have a frequency response of 20Hz up to 20,000Hz to be a good sounding speaker system. Not all speaker systems will get down to 20Hz, but that is the lowest frequency that the human ear can hear.
Anything lower than that is a feeling, and there are some speaker packages that would drop below that, to get that feeling sensation.
