Why are solar powered electronics better?

Solar powered electronics can be powered anywhere on the earth.

It's not necessarily better, but you have no wiring which means you can go anywhere or put devices anywhere. So whether it is an industrial or military application, there are a lot of places in the world where there are no outlets. That means solar can provide that power very easily and reliably virtually anywhere.

That's the huge advantage of solar products. Solar powers also can be empowering in small villages and underdeveloped countries. There they generally focus on building power plants for giant cities. So there are tons of villages all over the world that are not on the radar. By providing small solar energy systems in small villages, you keep the people in the village. You also provide interim opportunity in those places, etc.

Now, let me get into RV kits and small cabin systems. They are probably the biggest systems that we get. So as far as sizing the system, it is the same whether it is a tiny little application or whether it's a cabin or an RV. Basically, I ask people what kind of device or devices they want to power. Then from there we determine what they need. I have a little label on an electronic piece of equipment that tells you how much power it draws, watts, volts, and amps. Once we know how much energy the device consumes, then we ask somebody how many hours a day they think the device will run. Then we get into the total energy somebody wants to use in a day. That usually is measured in watt powers of energy. In other words, somebody is running a 15 watt compact florescent bulb for four hours a day. That's 60 watt hours of energy.

Once we have those numbers, we know what we are looking to accomplish. Then, I ask somebody where they are located in the world or in the country. I ask what their physical location is. I also ask somebody whether it's winter and summer. The sun is out for a different amount of hours during the summer or winter, so we size that system. If you need to generate 100 watt hours per day, and you have five hours of sun, you would need a 20 watt solar panel to accomplish that. We are now talking about solar direct applications, which would be a solar panel connected directly to a device. That's used for water pumping, where somebody needs to water cattle out in the field. When the sun is shining, it fills up a trough. When the sun is not shinning, the pump doesn't work.
