Is carpet worse for people with allergies?

Carpet does not contribute to allergies in the home.

There has been a lot of talk about allergens and dust mites in carpet. At one point, there was a huge myth that carpets contributed to dust mites and allergens. A robust study was recently conducted in Sweden,

showing that carpets help control allergens and are actually a better solution than laminate flooring or some other hard flooring choices. The reason for this is that carpet traps the dust unlike a hard surface where dust lays on top of the surface to be kicked back into our breathing zone. Carpet traps these allergens.
