It is very difficult to picture what success will look like in your mind in any endeavor before you actually achieve it. I've written over 50 books, sold a bunch but still don't have a million seller book.
I want one, work at it every day but still haven't achieved this success. There are any number of reasons why people achieve and don't achieve success. Libraries are filled with hundreds of books on all aspects of success. So what those of us do who are trying to achieve some future success when we can't accurately verbalize what it will look, feel or be like when we get there?
What I have discovered is that a pattern of success in the past can lead to on-going success in the future.
One of the most effective ways to ensure a successful future in any area of your life is to build on small successes one at a time. Let me explain.
If you want to lose 25 pounds focus on losing one pound a week rather than on the 25. If you are can lose one pound a week or even only ½ a pond a week you are moving in the right direction. Keep that up and before you know it you will have lost the 25. Stay focused on losing the one pound a week and don't worry about how long it will take to lose the 25.
Each week that you lose one pound you will make it easier to lose the second one the second week and so on.
Want to be financially independent in ten years. Focus on saving some portion of your income every week or month. It doesn't matter how small the amount, what matters is the habit of routinely doing it every week or month. Stop worrying about how much you will need in ten or twenty years just build on one success at a time and watch your net worth grow, gradually and slowly at first but in the end it is the habits that matter and not the outcomes.
For me, it is writing every day and getting better at my writing every day. And sooner or later, I am confident that I will have a million seller book. Now, you could help me with this by buying just one of my 57 books available on my website. (Every little bit helps, so why not do your part to help me reach my goal.
