I recently worked on a promotion at the Levi's store in Houston where they were trying out the new Intellifit body scanning machine. You walk into the machine (fully clothed) and it scans your measurements

and gives you a print-out of the best styles and sizes for your measurements. The store in Houston will have a permanent Intellifit machine by November. It's really cool. It takes your inseam, waist, and hip measurements and recommends the best Levi styles for your body. It really narrows down the search since Levi's has over 50 styles of jeans.

Several stores and malls are trying out the Intellifit machine including Levi's and David's Bridal in major cities. It really helps you find the most flattering fit and also helps the clothing manufacturer's collect data so they can create better designs and sizes. It can also be used for custom-made clothes.

At the Levi's store many people were able to wear a smaller size than they had previously tried. Especially in the 525 line, it was recommended that people try a size smaller than they normally wear. The machine can also help customers see that jeans that sit lower on the waist can be most flattering. If you've ever been through the nightmare of trying on pair after pair of jeans only to find that when they fit in one place, they are too small or large in another, the Intellifit machine can make shopping a breeze.
