Facts about Fort Myers, Florida

Fort Myers, Florida is located on the Gulf of Mexico north of Key West and west of Miami, and it is the former home of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford.

Fort Myers is in southwest Florida right near the Gulf of Mexico. Key West is to our far south, two hours north is Tampa, and about two and a half hours east is Miami.

Most people who visit

our area are here because of our great nature and history. Native Indians used to inhabit this land, and then more recently, Thomas Edison and Henry Ford lived here during the winter months. You can visit Thomas Edison's home, garden, and laboratory as well as Henry Ford's home.
