Concord is the state capital located in central New Hampshire. The city itself has about 44,000 people, but the metropolitan area has about 100,000 people. The closest large city is Manchester to the South. The population is not particularly diverse in Concord. It's primarily a Caucasian community at this point.
We are located in the northeast part of the country, so we have fairly long winters. They are relatively mild compared to what you would get in upper New York. We get a reasonable amount of snowfall beginning around late December and continuing into early March. Our average annual snowfall is about 65 inches. That seems like a lot, but I've lived here all my life. It's enough to keep you skiing from late December through the end of March. Temperatures vary. In the summer time, we have an average temperature of about 75-80 degrees. In July we get some significant humidity. There are always a few weeks that get very hot and humid, but then it passes.
The city has a fairly significant history. It started off as an agricultural community before the Revolutionary War and was the home of President Franklin Pierce. It was then a transportation center during the peak of the transportation era as the interstates were built. It sort of ended up as a crossroad. Today the state government is the largest employer followed by health care. We have a very large health care network here. New Hampshire is one of wealthiest and healthiest states in the country. It also ranks highest in the US for its level of education.
